Hosting and PaaS

Here at AHS our review of the first six months of 2023 has found us thinking about pure hosting or Platform as a Service (PaaS).

We have noticed a trend that has developed over the past two years and accelerated this year. IT Departments are looking to migrate their Archibus perpetual on-premise solutions to the cloud. As a result, we now have many more “traditional” Archibus clients hosting with us. This is an interesting development as most of our business revolves around our Archibus Enterprise SaaS. So, what is driving this trend in our business?

Feedback that we have received highlights three main factors. These are our compatibility with IT Strategies, Cybersecurity and Infosec, and our ability to provide Turnkey Solutions.

IT Strategy

It’s no secret, or surprise, that many IT Departments are moving solutions to the cloud. Reportedly,  around 90% of organizations are adopting the cloud in some way. The benefits are well known. Our clients and partners tell us that performance, cost management and predictability, and security compliance are fundamental reasons for their choosing the AHS cloud.

Platform as a Service

However, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has really become a driver for this as more companies are swapping on-premise solutions and associated assets for more scalable cloud solutions.

ERP and Archibus go hand in hand for many clients. Consequently, integration between the two solutions is a common occurrence. It makes sense for such integrations to happen in the cloud and, as a result, for Archibus also to reside in the cloud.

AHS provides a wide variety of integration tools ranging from Single Sign-On and authentication to cloud integration gateways.

The Cloud

Cybersecurity and Information Security

The adoption of the cloud has meant a change in role and emphasis for IT professionals. Their priorities are no longer the hardware and software assets under management, rather they are more aligned with business objectives, data analysis, and security.

Cybersecurity and Infosec are key components of modern IT expertise. The expectation is that the cloud delivers the necessary management and compliance to make this happen.

AHS is ISO27001 compliant. We have been independently assessed against internationally recognized standards showing our commitment to information security. AHS also provides the necessary tools to make this happen. This is true regardless of whether we are dealing with Access Control. Direct Denial of Service protection, Backup and Redundancy, Secure access via VPN, or Firewall Management.

The need for a “Turnkey” solution

Archibus Clients and Partners want to be able to move their solutions to the cloud in a cost effective and predictable way. Archibus Enterprise SaaS and PaaS are platforms proven over nearly two decades. They are offered on a multi-cloud basis. AHS platform partners are Amazon Web Services, IBM Cloud and Microsoft Azure. These three cover many partners’ requirements, and clients may have existing relationships with these three organizations.

Clients want to have the space and time to decide about their Archibus perpetual licenses. Some want to retain their current model. For others, whilst there is potential to migrate to a subscription model, like Archibus Enterprise SaaS, the timing may not be opportune. In the meantime, we take the strain of managing clients’ risk around topics such as compliance, data management and risk management, allowing partner and client teams to focus on their core businesses.

In the world of Archibus Enterprise SaaS it seems PaaS is still a compelling solution for clients who want to retain their perpetual license model. AHS are here to help you harness the power of Archibus in the cloud providing Turnkey solutions that are secure and reliable, and compatible with the direction taken by your IT.

Adopting the Cloud might sound complicated. But it does not have to be.
